I just wanted to make a quick message to parents, kids, students, teachers, owners, enthusiasts: There is life outside “So You Think You Can Dance” and other dance reality shows. I’m not quite so sure that people know that.

I’m NOT saying it’s bad to watch these shows, so don’t freak out. I’m just saying that there is life OUTSIDE of them.

There are a lot of cute wedding dance videos making their way to Youtube, but this is by far my favorite. It’s not performed at the reception, but instead down the aisle right inside the church. The bride and groom (Jill and Kevin) must have really cool friends for agreeing to this!

Before dance studios get back in gear with their fall season of choreographing competition routines, why not stop for a second and think of that old saying, less is more?

I usually don’t post about SYTYCD Australia, though I should, but here’s a video from a few weeks ago of Complexions Ballet performing on the results show to Adele’s Make You Feel My Love. Some really brilliant dancing and gorgeous technique! I hope the season five will bring Complexion onto the stage at some point.

SYTYCD Trivia: Danny Tidwell (S3) was a member of Complexions before coming onto SYTYCD.

Today is a day for dancers and dance enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate. Why? Because it’s International Dance Day!

The internationally recognized holiday, which began in 1982, is currently promoted by the International Dance Council (CID), a division of UNESCO. It takes place every year on April 29 to commemorate the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre.

CID President Alkis Raftis has issued the following statement regarding International Dance Day 2009:
